Towny

Towny isn’t just some plugin. It is the heart of our server, and it’s what makes towny servers, towny servers. It essentially works off of claims and the economy system, but is so much more. Towny allows players to create or join towns. Together players will build their town from the ground up, and expand, and conquer the leaderboards. All builds in town are safe as they are protected by town claims. There are many different settings that you can choose to toggle for your town, allowing you to optimize it for your town’s needs. Towny also allows towns to team up and create a nation. Nations can have many towns in them, and is the best way to “conquer” the server.

Within towns and nations, there are different ranks that mayors (towns) and kings (nations) can assign to members of their town/nation to give them certain privileges and permissions. These are used to help the leader of the town/nation run it, and to give certain people perks, distinction, and importance/nobility in the town/nation.

Running a town (and/or nation) though does come at a cost. There are creation costs, upkeep costs, taxes, and more. So it is suggested that you gain experience on the server and how to make money first, before you decide to join or make one of your own.

So from that description above, you can see that Towny is much more than just a cool way to protect your land. You are working as a team to run a town.

Costs

Towny has a bunch of different costs for different aspects of a town and nation. Below you can find standard costs, taxes, and upkeep. Standard costs are general/basic things like town creation, outpost, spawn travel, etc… Taxes are collected daily, (every real world 24 hours). Town and nation leaders can set their taxes. Taxes are collected on a town level from residents, and a nation level from towns. If a town can’t pay their taxes, they will be kicked from their nation. If a resident can pay their plot tax, they will lose their plot. If a resident can’t pay their town tax, they will be kicked from the town. Upkeep costs are paid by towns and nations and are charged daily, (every real world 24 hours marks the start of a new day). If a town/nation can’t afford their upkeep, they will fall into ruin.
